You can tell it's spring in Alpine by the green hills and abundant weeds, the return of bird songs, and sightings of reptiles, too. If you have more time planned in your garden or are looking forward to other spring activities, Pilates can help you stay one step ahead of "overdoing it" and keep you active without adding aches or strains. The secret is "connected strength".
While building a stronger core is a common goal of Pilates, the secret to achieving this comes from initiating and controlling movements from the core. In Pilates, we harness this connection from our breath. The breath is our muscular connection to our core. The core is the bridge between the upper and lower body. The core houses our lungs and heart and has specific connections to our nervous system, too. Improving your core awareness helps build confidence to layer exercise skills and gain more control over your body. Inner and outer strength also expand together in Pilates. I hope that has piqued your interest in building your core relationships.
If you are ready to experience the magic, I have added several new classes to the schedule, starting next week! Look for beginner and intermediate equipment classes to help you build your Pilates foundation and fine-tune your skills to find stretch and strength in every workout. And, if you want to experience Pilates, no equipment required, check out the new Classical Pilates Mat class, off-site at Angela's Fitness on Alpine Boulevard!!!
The new mat class and Yamuna class descriptions are featured below. And there are also 5 new studio equipment classes. More info can be found by clicking the button below or through the website's class schedule page.
